The changing light on the San Francisco Bay is a constant inspiration in all seasons and all times of day, but especially rewarding for those who arrive just as the sun rises above the East Bay hills. The sense of timelessness and meditative stillness is the same as it must have been for the area's earliest inhabitants. The solitary Great Heron in this image embodies that sense of calm for us as he patiently waits for his prey in the pastel morning light.
