Photograph on metal

I had heard that there was a humped-backed whale in the Bay. So I went out to Alameda, sitting on land and spent a glorious day watching this magnificent animal periodically coming up for air. I knew the photo I wanted was her breaching with the city in the background. Most of the day she was really close and just did small breaches every now and then. Then I noticed she hadn't come up for a while, I saw the water break in the distance, camera up, hands shaking I knew this was "the" photo I had been waiting for . . . was the shot in focus, did I have the right settings? What joy, I did! I sent it off to the San Francisco Chronicle and to my great delight they printed it on the front page! A day I will never forget.
