What inspired the photo and how does it relate to the theme?
I love the night sky. The camera can image so much more than what the eye can see. I love combining night sky objects with our earthly foreground. The Rho Ophiuchi Cloud Complex is a favorite celestial object for its colorful nebula or gaseous clouds. It can be found by locating the yellow star Antares. The Bristlecone Pine trees can live to be a couple thousand years old and are found at high altitudes living in harsh conditions. These trees are a great subject to pair with the night sky A living 3,000 year old specimen, ancient by earth standards, is but a drop in the bucket relative to the age of the Universe. This tree was at approximately 10,000 feet. It was quite cold this night. After starting my camera exposures. I sat on a fallen Bristlecone log and contemplated the sky and earth for about an hour. This image reminds me of that contemplation and the perspective it brings. All my perceived earthly woes float out into the universe, and I walk back to my car with a sense of peace.
