About The Artist

Like most parents, I began taking pictures when my children were young. But, I didn’t get serious about photography until I joined the Marin Photo Club in 2015. Though I have been mostly focused on landscape and travel, street photography has opened up a new area of interest and connection to other people’s lives.

Artist Statement

San Francisco, a city with great disparity between haves and have-nots, has approximately 8,000 homeless people. As I looked at this poor soul sleeping on a concrete sidewalk, I realized that it was the sign above his head that made the image so impactful. I suspect this image will emote a visceral reaction from some viewers as they envision a life without shelter.
