About The Artist
Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Suzanne Engelberg focuses her work on interpretive landscape photography. Her connection to the natural world has always been a strong force for her. She began her career as an attorney with a special interest in environmental law. Fifteen years ago, she shifted her attention to photography and studied at the San Francisco Art Institute. She has exhibited extensively, both nationally and internationally, and is the author of “Visions of Phoenix Lake”, a photographic essay.
Artist StatementI am interested in the manner in which color, light, and form coalesce to create an image. The spontaneous handstand by a passerby elevated this image from a depiction of the wonderful geometry of an urban landscape to a joyful expression of human interaction with a city environment.
